Mission of the Month-Plastic Free MV
Plastic Free MV is an ambitious and dedicated group of students at West Tisbury School who created and advocated for warrants to the up-island towns this year to prohibit the sale of small, single-use plastic water and soda bottles. West Tisbury and Chilmark passed the warrants; Aquinnah will consider the warrant on May 14. Next year’s goal is the down-island towns. And here’s an interesting fact: West Tisbury is the first town in the country, and possibly the world, to ban both water and soda bottles!
Our Mission of the Month is to support the strong efforts and message that these kids bring to the island and to the world. Funds raised by our church will support the distribution of reusable water bottles imprinted with a QR (quick response) code that connects users to a map of water refill stations on the island, as well as stickers with their logo and the QR code for businesses.
